Shanghai Sisters
One is fun, Two is merry, Three – sublime. The Shanghai Sisters are namely Winnie Ho, Janet Lee and May Mow – sisters in voices and vivacity. Their trilingual repertoire of yesteryear songs will set the room aglow with the light of Old Shanghai, Grand Malaya, Romantic Hollywood and other household halcyon memories. The Shanghai Sisters are matched with the versatile and established, not to mention dashing and dapper, jazz musicians of WVC. The Shanghai Sisters promise to deliver a performance that epitomizes beauty and talent.

Alemay Fernandez
Hailed by MusicTalks Sydney as “One of the best Jazz Singers in the world”, Singaporean vocalist Alemay Fernandez is a veteran performer in the Asian jazz scene. In her illustrious 20 year career, she has performed with the likes of Wynton Marsalis & The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, The Count Basie Orchestra, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, David Foster, Gregory Porter, Incognito, Nat Adderley Jr, Ernie Watts, Randy Brecker, Antonio Hart, Jay Anderson, Lewis Nash, Ed Cherry, Tommy Campbell, The Platters’ Bobby Soul, William Close & The Earth Harp Collective and opened for Laura Fygi & Benny Golson. She has sung for A-listers like Kevin Spacey, Ethan Hawke, Joss Stone, Kurt Elling, Lea Salonga, Paloma Picasso, Serena Williams as well as Presidents & Prime Ministers. well as Presidents and Prime Ministers. Alemay is known for her sultry tone, powerhouse vocals and an onstage presence that keeps the audience eating out of the palm of her hand. Her album of originals “Hard To Imagine” launched to a sold-out concert at the Esplanade in July 2016 to rave reviews. Since then, she has toured the album in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Colombo, Hanoi as well as a U.S. tour in the Summer of 2017 where she headlined at the legendary Birdland Jazz Club in NY. Alemay is in constant demand at home in Singapore, and has performed with all manner of Singapore orchestras and bands. She has been featured in several Dick Lee musicals and concerts, and works regularly with Jeremy Monteiro. She also tours internationally headlining at notable jazz venues and festivals worldwide.

Noryn Aziz and Friends
Singer, artiste, performer; these are the words used to describe the many faces of Noryn Aziz. She gained her diploma in classical music at UITM, and later her Bachelor of Music at the International College of Music specializing in arranging. A classically-trained singer who embraces contemporary music, Noryn is also a qualified vocal coach, a natural lyricist and songwriter who has made R&B and jazz her forte. Her music background started as early as since she was 18 when she recorded a duet album in the year of 1996. In the year of 1988 she came out with her first solo pop acoustic album and in the year 2000 she entered International College of Music (ICOM) to further her studies in music, it was then she adapted her jazz singing into her career. As for that particular time, she was doing some soul searching through her musical journey. So then she found that jazz is the best genre for her to evolve her musical ability and through performances she gained experiences and knowledge to be more independent and be better in her performance.

Alex Hutchings
World renowned guitarist Alex Hutchings has been blessed by gaining a national and international following over the last few years. Regularly touring around the globe Alex performs under his own name and as an international demonstrator for the Roland Corporation, Laney Amplification and Rotosound. Other performances include the main guitar role on Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller Live’ arena tour in 13 countries. Glastonbury Festival, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Isle of White Jazz Festival, Cannes Film festival as well as extensive gigs around the UK. As well as a guitarist Alex has also composed work for the BBC, ITV and the Cable Network. Alex has most recently completed a world tour with Steven Wilson (Formerly Porcupine tree) including 3 nights at the Royal Albert Hall London with Live DVD and Blu-ray. This epic 150 show tour spanning over a year was a great success and for the most part were sold out shows throughout Europe Asia and the Americas, they also played in Japan, New Zealand and Australia too.

Abdul & The Coffee Theory
Abdul & The Coffee Theory is an Indonesian band that carries the genre of pop and jazz with a little touch of blues. Initially the band was initiated by Abdul, whose full name was Tengku Muhammad Abdullah Amin Ansari. This man born in Medan had previously released a solo album entitled “Bersandinglah” (2007). Abdul then changed the concept of solo singer into a band in 2008. The band was named Abdul & the Coffee Theory with additional members Alex (keyboard), Indra (guitar), Andre Coople (bass), Horas (saxophone) and Andrey Chilling (drums). The concept of the Coffee Theory originated from the idea of Abdul’s friends who like to gather and drink coffee. Together with The Coffee Theory, Abdul released an album titled “Lovable” (2008). The lyrics delivered in Abdul’s songs & The Coffee Theory are indeed made simple and romantic with a little touch of the jazz blues wrapped in their folk essence.

Lawrence Wright Jazz Ensemble
Lawrence Wright was once considered one of the great jazz musicians of his era. His understanding of music was profound and he knew how to reach the people. Unfortunately, he never found major success and was forced into early retirement. This quintet is proud of the Lawrence Wright legacy and have chosen to carry his name forward by recreating something he never got to, a jazz quintet featuring some of the best talents in Asia. This show will consist mostly of his exciting music and the thought provoking themes that centre around his controversial departure from jazz. We hope you will enjoy their presentation as the Lawrence Wright Jazz Ensemble. Who are they? What do they do? Which one is Lawrence? Well, all you have to know is that they’ll entertain you to no end with their smooth mix of jazz, neo-soul and electronica.

Bil Musa
Bil Musa is a local singer-songwriter who started her career producing and uploading songs on Soundcloud from the comfort of her bedroom. She then went under the wings of Yuna Room Records after catching their attention. Within few years of being active in the local industry, she has successfully released one self-titled EP and a full-length album entitled Young Adults..

WVC Jazz Ensemble
Formed in 2006 as a trio, WVC completed its quartet line up with the addition of saxophonist Julian Chan. The group has toured extensively in the region, heralding back the spirit being “on the road” of touring jazz bands of old. Through these regional tours, WVC has brought its music to many corners of Malaysia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and Macau. In one of these tours, the quartet managed to travel extensively over 18 cities and performed 23 concerts within a month, using different means of transportation, playing in many different types of venues.

Laidthis Nite
Laidthis Nite (read: ladies night) a band from Jakarta does not have any woman, but the name of a band with 6 men are not also newcomers, because they have been travelling the world with regular performances in famous cafes and clubs. Laidthis Nite released their debut single they are titled “GELAS KE 3” which was produced by Widi Puradiredja from Maliq & D’Essentials. This song has soul, disco & RnB pop nuances wrapped in falsetto sounds typical of vocalist Simon and Beboy, but don’t worry, the lyrics are simple and of course catchy. Tells a story about a man who was captivated and tempted by his heart towards a woman in a club. Laidthis Nite brings a stream of music such as Motown, Soul, Funk & RnB.
